Nearshoring & offshoring strategy for a European energy supplier

Order

The contract included the development and implementation of a near- and offshoring strategy to reduce the cost of software development resources while increasing the availability of skilled labor across national borders.

Situation

A large European energy supplier was faced with high personnel costs and a shortage of IT staff in the DACH region. Against this backdrop, an initiative was to be launched to outsource IT services abroad, reduce personnel costs and improve access to specialized software experts.

Procedure

DI Experts standardized the creation of SOW, RFI and RFP documents and developed detailed transition guides for collaboration with external providers. At the same time, existing service management processes were reviewed and simplifications identified. As part of the tendering process, DI Experts assisted in the selection of new nearshore and offshore partners and continuously supported the IT department in the transition to the new service providers.

Result

The implemented strategy led to the provision of standardized templates for SOW, specifications and scorecards as well as the establishment of comprehensive ITSM guidelines and a KPI-based metrics system. In addition, SharePoint communication sites and accompanying apps were introduced to simplify data transfers and reporting. The IT department benefited from targeted support in the documentation and monitoring of the entire tendering process, which led to noticeably lower personnel costs and sustainably improved resource availability.
